Trini Lopez’s “Now!” came out in 1967 on Reprise Records, continuing the Texas-born singer’s run of upbeat pop and rock recordings that had made him a popular figure in the early-to-mid 1960s. Lopez built his reputation on energetic, crowd-pleasing performances, and this album follows that formula with his characteristic blend of vocal pop and light rock arrangements. He was best known at this point for his hit version of “If I Had a Hammer” from his 1963 live album, though “Now!” represents his later studio work as tastes were shifting in the late 1960s.
