Here’s a true piece of Canadian music history the debut LP from Toronto’s The Nylons on their original home label, Attic Records. This 1982 self-titled release captured lightning in a bottle, showcasing four guys who took the doo-wop revival movement and ran with it in a way that felt both nostalgic and completely fresh. What started as street corner harmonizing in Toronto’s Beaches neighborhood quickly evolved into something special, and this album proved they could translate their live magic to vinyl. The record features their breakthrough version of “Up on the Roof” alongside originals that demonstrated their songwriting chops weren’t just limited to reimagining classics.
