Phil Collins’ second solo album, released in 1982 on Atlantic Records, follows up his debut “Face Value” with a similar blend of pop, rock, and blue-eyed soul. The record includes his well-known cover of the Supremes’ “You Can’t Hurry Love,” which became a major hit, as well as “I Don’t Care Anymore,” a harder-edged track featuring Collins’ signature gated drum sound. Like its predecessor, the album showcases Collins balancing accessible pop songwriting with elements drawn from his progressive rock background in Genesis.
