Paul Walters debut EP, Shining, originally released on his Meduka imprint in 2015, is now available again. Featuring two original tracks and a remix by French wizard Ark (Guillaume Berroyer), Meduka 001 is an essential piece in the vinyl collection of those seeking exquisitely produced contemporary minimal music.
Paul Walters bass-heavy Shining (A1) opens the EP with straightforward, low-swung drums, drenching the remaining space with hushed vocals, modular growls, and atmospheric pads. Appropriately named Mad Voice From The Winds (B1), Arks remix of Shining & Meduka is a statement to Guillaumes irreverence as a producer: elements from Pauls Shining and Meduka were reshaped, twisted, and jointly repurposed, culminating into a groovy, short (but focused) <Arkpocalyptical> ride. Meduka (B2) closes off the EP in a somewhat experimental tone: broken beats, leftfield melodies, and odd synth sequences showcasing Pauls talent and reflecting his academic ventures in Experimental And Electroacoustic Composition at Viennas University Of Music And Performing Arts.
