T his 1978 Canadian pressing of “The Lord’s Supper” captures John Michael Talbot during a pivotal period in his artistic evolution. Originally a member of the folk-rock duo Mason Proffit with his brother Terry in the early ’70s, Talbot had recently converted to Christianity and was developing the contemplative, spiritually-focused sound that would define his prolific solo career. This album represents some of his earliest work after leaving the secular music scene, featuring the rich orchestral arrangements and choral backing that would become hallmarks of his devotional recordings.
