Here’s a Canadian Quality pressing of Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass’s “What Now My Love” from 1966, representing the group at their absolute commercial and creative peak. This was the album that cemented Alpert’s status as a household name, following the massive success of “Whipped Cream & Other Delights.” The title track, originally a French chanson called “Et Maintenant,” became one of Alpert’s most recognizable performances, showcasing his distinctive muted trumpet style against the Brass’s signature mariachi-influenced arrangements. The album also features their take on “Spanish Flea,” which became synonymous with the swinging sixties sound and appeared in countless TV shows and commercials.
