Here’s a fascinating piece of piano history that deserves a spot in any serious collector’s library. Charlie Kunz was something of a unique phenomenon in the world of popular piano a German-born musician who became one of Britain’s most beloved radio and recording artists from the 1930s through the 1950s. His distinctive medley style, where he’d seamlessly weave together popular songs of the day with classical flourishes and his own arrangements, made him a household name across the Commonwealth. This third volume in Decca’s “World Of” series captures Kunz during his prime years, showcasing that immediately recognizable touch and his ability to transform familiar melodies into something entirely his own.
