Amam returns to vinyl after a few years away with mrelssa new alias of label owner Alessio Mereu, delivering a focused solo statement to open the new year: Shard of the 88th Cycle EP. After a run of collaborations and parallel projects (as 1/3 of Befog with Difid and Acid for the Grandma, and 1/2 of Aleandro with Andrea Ferlin), this release offers four stripped, club-oriented tracks built on depth, repetition, and forward motion.
On the A side, Lurking Spasms sets the tone with a deep, driving foundation where acid-tinged synth lines and melodic details sit over minimal percussion, while Season of Reason leans into hypnosis, shaped by repeating motifs and rhythmic vocal chops that punctuate the groove. On the B side, Grains moves into a more house-leaning zone, with warmer swing and a deep low-end that stays steady and rolling, before SMMIFS closes with another locked-in minimal cut, centred on hypnotic melodies and small variations that keep the loop moving while maintaining consistent energy.
