Another Side Of Skinshape: Vinyl LP

Skinshape (aka Will Dorey) releases his ninth studio album titledAnother Side Of Skinshapevia Lewis Recordings. As the album title suggests, Doreys latest body of work is somewhat unlike anything in his prior discography. However, there is always a consistent Skinshape thread which pulsates throughout all of his music – a kind of sonic dreamscape which echoes a mystical nostalgia for a sun dappled afternoon.

Taking inspiration from childhood memories, Ethiopian rhythms, and even calls to prayer,Another Side Of Skinshapegained access to the most esoteric corners of Doreys mind. Whilst Its About Time and Ananda display a slightly more synthesised palette than we typically hear of a Skinshape tune, singles Stornoway and Lady Sun (which features the hazy soul vocals of West Londons Hollie Cook) replicate the same lifeblood heard on albumsNostalgia, orCraterellus Tubaeformis.

Whilst making this album, Dorey experimented with various keyboards and drum machines, which are at times layered over the excellent drumming of Thomas Blunt, who played live onto tape. Blunt is well versed in the Skinshape vernacular, also being part of Doreys live band.
