Here’s a Canadian pressing of Diana Ross’s “Baby It’s Me” from 1977, a release that often gets overlooked in discussions of her solo catalog but deserves serious consideration from collectors focused on late-70s soul and disco. This album marked a creative turning point for Ross, working with producer Richard Perry (who had just come off massive successes with Ringo Starr and Carly Simon) rather than the usual Motown production team. The result was a more contemporary, polished sound that bridged her Supremes legacy with the disco era that was reshaping popular music. The standout track “Gettin’ Ready for Love” became a dance floor favorite, while “Your Love Is So Good for Me” showed Ross adapting beautifully to the increasingly sophisticated R&B arrangements of the period.
