Here’s a pressing that deserves more attention from serious collectors the 1975 Canadian A&M pressing of the Carpenters’ “Horizon.” This album marked a significant turning point for the duo, showcasing Karen’s vocal maturity at its absolute peak while Richard pushed their arrangements into more sophisticated jazz-influenced territory. The Canadian A&M pressings from this era are particularly sought after by those in the know, as the Mississauga plant was using superior vinyl compounds and had excellent quality control compared to many of their U.S. counterparts during the mid-70s pressing plant chaos.
